Description

Childhood home of the Norwegian writer Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson, who was awarded the Nobel Prize of Literature in 1903. Seven of the present buildings date back to Bjørnson’s time. Renovated barn with exhibitions, multimedia and function rooms. Culture walk to Prestneset, Prestaksla and the Bjørnsonstien path.

The Fisheries museum

In the summer season you can go by boat out to the idyllic island of Hjertøya, a great recreational area where you can hire rowing boats, fish, og on a picnic, walk along guided paths or swim in the sea. At the Fisheries Museum you can get an insight into local coastal culture. The museum is made as a small fishing village with houses, fishermen’s shacks, cod-liver oil factory, engineering workshop and a large collection of boats.

The Romsdal Museum in Molde

One of the largest and most comprehensive folk museums in Norway is located only a 10 minutes’ walk from the centre of Molde town. The Romsdal Museum was established in 1912 and portrays buildings and interesting interiors from the whole region. The town street ”Bygata” with Mali’s Café shows typical Molde town houses from the pre-war period.
