The experience can be combined with a train ride on the Dovre Railway between Oslo and Trondheim. If you are already in Møre and Romsdal, you can choose to take a shorter railway trip from Åndalsnes to Bjorli, a fantastic tour from fjord to mountain in less than an hour.
The train has big panoramic windows and you can lean back and enjoy the view. You will see a spectacular view to the Trollveggen wall, the highest vertical mountain wall in Europe. The train takes you over 32 bridges, among them the Kylling Bridge. Most of the time, the train followes the Rauma River. The beautiful emerald-colored river is both kind and wild - in one moment it flows quietly down, surrounded by small white beaches, for suddenly to romp freely down steep gorges in a tremendous speed.
Strong, bright colors and clean, fresh air as far as the eye can see. You will experience everything from the steep mountains that fall vertically to the bottom of the valley and the majestic, jagged peaks, the beautiful, lush hillsides that sneaks up against the big mountain plateaus, and further to the untouched national parks with large numbers of wild reindeers.
On Bjorli it is a great hiking terrain for hiking in the mountains, summer and autumn, and during the winter there are good conditions for both cross country and alpine skiing. Bjorli is known as one of the best places in Norway with snow guarantie! You can stay overnight at Bjorligard Hotel. In winter, you should also try one night in the Snowhotel wich is a part of the Bjorligard Hotel.
Are you planning next summer now?
In summer, from June to August, you get an extra experience at the Rauma Railway. By the most spectacular places the train is running extra slow, and at the famous Kylling Bridge and the Trollveggen Wall, the train will stop completely, so you can take great pictures.
Along the journey you will be guided in Norwegian, English and German. On board the train you get a brochure with information about the experiences along the way and a map showing the entire train journey.
You can also order a package where the Rauma Railway is included, along with other highlights of Fjord Norway, as for example the Geirangerfjord, Ålesund, Bergen Railway and the Flåm Railway.
