Here is the construction of the Century! The Atlantic Road is named by the Norwegian people to be the construction og the Century in Norway. 15 buildings/constructions from all over the country were competing for the prestigious first place.
- We are very proud that it was one of our projects that won in this harsh competition, "said a delighted road manager Olav Søfteland after receiving the award. Crown Prince Haakon announced that the Atlantic Road won with 29 percent of the votes. Followed by Svinesund bridges and Fjellhallen in Gjøvik, according to bygg.no. Overall, there have been over 40,000 votes in the competition, via internet and sms.
The Atlantic Road in Averøy opened in July 1989. The road is now designated as a national tourist road and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Norway.
